Even though the year has just begun the most popular new diet of 2009 has already made its way far ahead to the front of the pack. This diet is completely revolutionary as well as it is easy to do and the results are permanent with no rebound weight gain after you complete the diet. Oddly enough the best diet is also the only one where its results are dependent upon eating! Instead of counting calories and watching exactly how much you’re consuming this diet is based around making your metabolism work for you so that you can eat normal decent sized meals and actually lose more weight.

So What is this Diet?

The diet is called Calorie Shifting and if you haven’t heard of it before, don’t worry its nothing to do with calorie counting. How it works is that you eat full meals throughout the day, however the types of calories that make up the majority of the meals need to change from day to day and some times from meal to meal. For example one day you may be focused much more on fat based foods, the next would be protein based. There is more to it of course than this, but essentially what all this does is cause something called metabolic confusion.

What’s Metabolic Confusion?

Think of it like this, your body is always adapting to how you eat, constantly. For at least 99% of the population we eat a relatively normal routine with a mix of food groups every day to a certain degree. Your metabolism sees this and adapts accordingly, always doing the minimal amount according to what your body is used to doing. Although when you start changing it up and eating a different pattern of foods your body basically says “hey what’s going on?” and starts up your metabolism. During calorie shifting it begins to do this every time you eat, soon your metabolism is always active and is much more responsive to when you eat. This is a more real world dieting solution because instead of starving yourself which actually forces your body to hold onto calories, you’re eating and burning more calories as a result. Calorie shifting is a revolution in the dieting world and it’s only growing.

The secret is there are no miracles. I finally got tired of being overweight. I decided to do something about it. First, I had to unlearn everything I learned. As a person who has suffered a lifetime of failed weight loss, I have fallen short of achieving my goal more times then I can count. Yo-yo dieting, various pills, shakes, bars, and supplements – you name it, I tried it. Over the years, I have spent more money on dead end, “quick fix” diet plans that were always unsuccessful. I got sick of feeling tired, depressed, and frustrated with my weight so I finally made the decision to focus my energy into making serious changes. First, for my health and second, to see my kids grow up.

I finally realized the only person who could help me was me. And the same goes for you. It’s important for you to take a proactive role in making changes in your lifestyle. Forget everything you think you know about food and dieting. All the diet pills, latest fad diet programs, books on crash dieting make you fail because it becomes almost impossible for you maintain the diet. If the program requires low-calorie, low-fat, low-carb eating; your energy levels will crash, you’ll most likely gain the weight right back and then some. Eating more nutritious foods provides you with more energy and better health. There are safer ways of losing weight, staying healthy and do it the right way.

Three important factors that aide in weight loss are what you eat, how much you eat, and then how much exercising you’re getting. Although it may seem easy to monitor calorie intake and exercise regularly, it is not always effective especially if the person doing it is not determined and disciplined enough. For you to achieve your weight loss goals here are some tips you might find helpful in jump starting your weight loss journey:

1. Eat more smaller meals. Huh? What that means is eating smaller amounts more frequently (4-6 meals per day). Doing this keeps your metabolism up and allows you to burn more calories, resulting in weight loss.

2. Aim for gradual weight loss, don’t expect it to happen overnight. Experts recommend losing 1-2 pounds per week. More is great but too much will leave you tired and cranky.

3. Selecting healthy foods will go along way towards achieving your weight loss goal. It will also help you develop a well-balanced diet as well as good eating habits. Avoid processed foods and eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains (they really aren’t that bad!).

4. Most people don’t know how many calories they should be taking in and no idea how many they’re actually taking in.

5. Drink 8 glasses (64 fluid ounces) of water daily to maintain hydration and cleansing of the body. Amazingly, if you drink a full glass of water, about 20 minutes before your meal, it would aid in feeling full, subsequently, reducing your food intake.

I know this seems like a lot to take in, but even changing one small thing in your diet (i.e. choosing to eat whole grains instead of white) can make the starting difference. This can give you the jump start to making changes in all areas of your diet.

Remember, it’s a marathon not a sprint. The safer ways of achieving your weight loss goal are not through gimmicks or extreme dieting, only what mother nature intended. You’ll have more energy, higher confidence, and be a better more healthy you. Now you have the secrets to becoming a weight loss success story.

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Being over weight is no joke. It causes upset and heartache for those who are struggling with their weight, and worry for their family and friends as they fret about the health of their loved one. To address this problem the next logical step is normally to go on a diet and take some form of exercise to aid weight loss. The trouble is with so many diets around which one is the best to follow?

For people who are confused by diets help is always greatly appreciated otherwise they get nowhere and end up following the first diet that promises them amazing weight loss results often risking their health. Yes, it is true that being over weight is danger to a person’s health anyway but so is crash dieting or starving yourself just to become thin. A major drawback to crash dieting, health issues aside, is that when following a crash diet with heavily restricted calories the body will go into starvation mode. When this happens the body will crave the excess calories it is not getting and as soon as the person dieting returns to their normal diet the weight will pile back on.

As you can see this is not the way to diet successfully at all and if you find that this is the cycle you fall into with your diets help is needed to get you in the right direction. “The Diet Solution” is one book that will do this for you, with practical and straightforward advice that will not only see you lose weight, but keep it off. By looking at how the body actually processes food, and in particular the role your blood sugar levels have in determining your weight, this book will show you how to change your eating habits, never feel hungry and lose weight at the same time.

The Inside Track on Rice Diet Secrets – Rice and the Health Benefits For the Consumer

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

When it comes to losing weight and maintaining a healthy diet, consumers usually resort to any easy fix like diet pills, shakes, and even more serious measures. What people don’t know is that there are rice diet secrets that can not only help you lose inches and fat but, they can substantially reduce Hi blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Rice contains low sodium and significant amounts of fiber, which most people either emit from their diets or never get enough of. The implementation of rice diet secrets combined with fruit, vegetables and grains can lead to many health benefits for all ages including:

1. improvements in digestion

2. improvements in glucose tolerance

3. reduction of hypertension and other heart diseases

4. reduce the risk of developing some cancers

5. increased the effects of weight management

The most important elements of rice diet secrets are to choose the right type of rice for a diet plan. Educate yourself on the many varieties of rice available in the majority of the retail markets around the country. There are over 6,000 plus varieties of rice grown around the country and the health benefits of incorporating them into a strict rice diet differ between each assortment.

Here are some examples of rice and there health benefits for the consumer. There is more than instant on the shelves so start investigating some of these varieties a bit further.

o Basmati-a source of folate iron, niacin and thiamin.

o Black-a great source of fiber

o Long Grain-a source of vitamins and minerals

o Short Grain-a source of folate , iron, and niacin.

o Sticky-a good source of fiber

o Jasmine and Carolina-a great source of folate, iron, niacin and thiamin.

o Texmati- good source of folate iron, niacin and thiamin

All of these rice varieties can be produced quite simply and easily on the stove or if you prefer, the microwave.

The ADA recommends a minimum of 20-35 g/day for a healthy adult depending on calorie intake (e.g., a 2000 cal/8400 kJ diet should include 25 g of fiber per day). The ADA’s recommendation for children is that intake should equal age in years plus 5 g/day (e.g., a 4 year old should consume 9 g/day).

The evolution of this tiny grain led to a revolution in dieting in 1939 when “The Rice Diet Solution” came about. This rice diet secret is an extremely aggressive approach to reverse disease and cause weight loss. “Dieters are promised fast weight loss of 20-30 pounds the first week followed by 2.5-3.5 pounds per week in the later phases. “

Although the plan for rice dieting is quite aggressive and sometimes hard to follow, you may need to visit the local bookstore or an internet cooking website to pick up a few hints on rice recipes and how to spice them up so the outcome isn’t so mundane.

The rewards you will reap from a rice diet will not only aide in helping you achieve your weight loss goals but, it will promote a healthier lifestyle for you and ultimately your family.
